Custom Music Editing

Music edited by our team of music and sport experts, helps athletes accomplish their music goals. Some may need greater physical and emotional flow, others need extra support for the elements they are performing or want to leave a lasting impression with judges and audiences.
We started out doing music editing for elite athletes only. Soon everyone else was asking to make music editing for every level from beginners to advanced competitors. We strongly believe that the quality of music editing is very important for the youngsters both as individuals and as competitors. That is why start with the same perfectionism we deliver to the elite when we work with beginners.

Our Music Edits are Always Unique
We edit music “from scratch” and never repeat our old programs when the same music is used for another athlete. The athlete’s individuality, the latest music trends in their sport and different elements always give us new music editing ideas for each new situation. So, we do not recirculate our previously edited programs/ We set you up on the road of your uniqueness.
Our Three Major Goals of Music Editing
During music editing for figure skating and ice dance, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, artistic swimming and all other sports, we pursue three major goals at the same time.
Goal 1 is to preserve the Music and to produce a strong musical form for your program or routine.
Goal 2 is to reach a fused relationship between the order of the elements, their timing and music while keeping the total timing compliant with the international and national rules.
Goal 3 is to create the sound balance between different music parts and then achieve the best overall sound for the sports arenas.
Integrity of Music Editing
Why are skating and swimming programs as well as gymnastics routines able co-exist with music?
Because both the program/routine movement and music in the compositions used to create them achieve development in time. Unlike any random music piece, figure skating, ice dance, artistic swimming and most gymnastics routines demand different timing of music development.
Music edited for sport is a highly condensed musical form. So, professional music editing is required to make it sound just right. We like working with thematic content and we help build and expand it through our editing process.
Whenever we first work with athlete(s), we prefer to see the videos of their performances. We have an expert on our team who understands technicalities of each sport and is able to assess each situation to best match music to its athlete. As the athletes develop their skills and mature, we want to stay appraised of their advancement, so we ask you to keep us in the loop and send us links, please.
Our Music Editing Process
We start by analyzing the rhythm, tempo and form of each music we will be editing. This helps us to determine the scope of editing we will be doing and various options of our rethinking of the new form for the completed edit. This analysis also leads to our creation of the seamless transitions between parts that originate from one music work and the logical connections to the next music, if applicable.
Such music analysis is more complex than it seems. The principal elements of the music form – exposition, bridge, development, reprise and coda – can have thousands of variations, specifics and exemptions, depending on the music genre and epoch of the music work creation.
Professional conductors, composers and musicologists study the Musical Form Analysis only during their Masters Degree programs. Regrettably, too often, people with only technical-level knowledge edit music based on their common sense or on their personal musical tastes. A person who never seriously studied Music Analysis and attempts to edit music is prone to making mistakes without realizing. So, the result of such errors will inevitably be a serious diminishing of the overall impression that program or routine was supposed to make. What’s worse, the students start accepting such incorrectly edited music as normalcy, because they repeatedly hear it during training. Sadly, this leads to distorting of their music taste and overall understanding.
That is why we always suggest that everybody who needs music for sport competitions work with only highly professional musicians.
Our Music Editing Design is for your Best Athletic Performance
Our second goal is matching the timing of the required elements with the timing of music phrases while keeping the total timing in compliance with the international and national rules.
The most major part of athletes’ success at competition is performing the elements their sport requires. Understanding that music must help athletes to achieve that is our priority alongside with helping them make good artistic impressions.
Our pioneering advantage model since inception is to always request the preliminary program or routine plan and the order of its elements. We use our expertise of the timing needed to execute each element when we create the edit that matches the length of musical phrases to the elements. We have a proven track
record that our approach is the best and the most rewarding. Music edit is meant to be comfortable for the athletes and to help coaches and choreographers with their work of merging technical elements and artistic movements.
Another method of music design is in reverse from the above. The programs or routines are built first, without music. After this process is completed, we receive the video or are invited to observe in person and design our music-editing plan based on the already existing timing. This method works best for very experienced coaches and choreographers.
After the music is edited, will the initial timing remain the same throughout the competition season?
Quite often, the timing that was needed at the beginning of the season to perform the elements requires slight adjustments before the competition. Creation of a music program or routine is our ongoing working process and we understand that such changes are needed. As musicians, however, we may not always be happy about them. The reason is that in order to change one part of music, like shorten it by one or several seconds and then equally increase another part, so the total time would not change, could present a big challenge. But we always find a reasonable solution and keep up the highest quality of our music editing.
We do our editing work on the industry standard professional audio equipment. Because of our editing studio setup we have a range of possibilities to perform sophisticated tasks that are impossible with free or low-cost software.
The Sound of Our Music is Excellence
Our third goal is the creation of the sound balance between different parts of music and making the best overall sound for the sports arenas.
Why is making good quality sound for playbacks at the sport arenas one of the most important aims of our production?
Practically, every music composition that we edit for skating, gymnastics or swimming needs specific sound adjustments. Particularly, when a program or routine has two or more musical parts. During our editing process we make all such improvements and pull together a common sound atmosphere through every part and to the overall music.
Our expert knowledge of acoustic rules, sound mixing techniques and working on high-grade professional equipment give us the ability to create sound that is designed for large arenas playback. When you are listening to our music on mobile devices, computers or the home theater equipment – they are not the large spaces and that’s why you will not immediately pick up that difference. But when you hear it in the big arenas – you’ll know.
We are working with uncompressed files whenever possible and will send you the high quality mp3 file(s) that are ready to upload to any competition.
